My kids spend hours running around the house.; and most often than not, their pretending they can fly! So when I came across this idea to make a home-made jetpack, I knew I had to make one for my son. These aren’t only great for boys, however, paint some hot pink stripes on the side and the jepack becomes perfect for little girls too.
Step 1: You’ll want to spray your two empty soda containers (It’s recommended to use the 1.25 liter bottles) with a plastic primer. We suggest Krylon Fusion for the primer. Be sure to let it dry completely before going on to step 2.
Step 2: Once the primer has dried, next spray the bottles with your favorite silver spray paint. This doesn’t have to be plastic specific. Be sure to let it dry completely as well. Also feel free to get a little extra creative here and experiement with different jetpack designs and colors.
Step 3: Attach the bottles to a piece of cardboard, approximately the width of the bottles next to each other. Let stand until dry.
Step 4: Use any kind of ribbon to create the straps for the jetpack. To attach them, simply use duct tape. That stuff works for everything and it’s silver colored so it matches.
Step 5: Cut crepe paper strips to create flames (usually about 4-8 per side will do it). Next, glue the tops of the strips to another piece of crepe paper and let dry.
Step 6: Fold the top strip of the flames and glue it to the inside of the bottle tops (these will actually be the bottom of the jetpack.) Let dry.
Step 7: Give the jetpack to your kid to enjoy!
